The second season of Marvel’s Iron Fist finally landed and you can truly feel a difference in the show’s direction.
Iron Fist was the black sheep of Marvel’s Netflix’s shows and luckily to people behind the series realised it. The second season is a major improvement and the choice to shorten in from 13 to 10 episodes helps with the storytelling.
I remember when the first season came out everyone complained about Finn Jones’ casting and I just thought maybe we should give him a chance. I have to say he definitely gives off a better Danny Rand in the sophomore season.
He stopped telling everyone who he is and what his purpose is and he actually protects New York better than before. The best improvement of the new season is the fighting scenes, they all seem believable. The choreography reminds me of the old Bruce Lee or Karate Kid-films.
In my honest opinion the supporting cast makes the show worth the watch. Misty Knight and Colleen Wing team-up episodes make you wish Netflix will start producing a Daughters of the Dragon series.
Alice Eve as Mary Walker also provides some suspense as you never know on whose side she is really one. I hope the next season while dive more into the characters back story and development. She really has the potential to be a worthy opponent for the future Iron Fist.
The season’s cliff-hanger also leaves room for more improvement in future seasons; this makes me hopeful that the supporting characters will take centre stage.
My Verdict
The show definitely has potential and the supporting cast makes it all worth it. The new show runner showed us that there is room for improvement and that is exactly what they delivered. Danny Rand still is not the most intriguing character and he can still be annoying, but the second season is definitely worth the watch.
