The anticipated Windhoek Oktoberfest will take place on 26 and 27 October at SKW. Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) recently launched the event at their headquarters and according to them the event has grown to become one of the country’s most appreciated cultural festivals.
The annual Windhoek Oktoberfest is not just a German festival, over the years it has developed into a culturally diverse event. According to Norbert Wurm, chairman of the Windhoek Oktoberfest committee, the event has participants from across the country and other places in the world.
“It is blossomed into a beautiful Namibian cultural celebration, irrespective of its origins,” Norbert said.
Festival-goers will once again be entertained by the Kirchdorfer band from the Munich Oktoberfest and they will once again be the main group on stage. According to the organisers they will once again have a few surprises up their sleeves.
Traditional games for all ages will once again be played and this will be accompanied by traditional Bavarian cuisine.

“It is a celebration of culture, which also celebrates our diversity in showcasing German roots but with our Namibian uniqueness, originality and authenticity,” Norbert said
Pupkewitz BMW will join forces with NBL to present the event this year. Apart from a sponsorship, the motor dealership will also transport the Kirchdorfer band and their equipment. They will help with the marketing of the event and provide VIP parking for any BMW owner. They will also offer a chauffeur service to BMW owners.
The event will also adopt a cashless service, more information can be found on the website. They will also support the fight against rhino poaching. The Intelligence Support Against Poaching will have a dedicated both at the event to help with fundraising.
LEFA, the local cab app service will also operate at the event to help festival-goers with transport to and from the event. That is not all, one lucky event goer can stand the chance to win beer for a year through the Windhoek Oktoberfest SHAZAM competition.
