The Amos Meerkat Pre-School Training Programme recently received a sponsorship of N$500 000 to help grow their project.

The programme has been around for a long time and 2018 alone more than 3 700 and 186 teachers benefitted from the programme. It has been designed to be relatable to children between the ages of 5 and 6. Teachers have given positive feedback after the programmes were implemented at their pre-primary schools.

FirstRand Namibia Foundation Trust made the sponsorship and their CSI manager, Revonia Kahivere said that education is a priority for them.

“Through the Amos Meerkat Pre-school Training Programme, we have been able to help Namibian farmers and communities with starting up pre-schools in their community,” Revonia said.

“This in turn has ensured that every pre-school child in Namibia is given the opportunity to prepare for primary school. This programme is in line with our partnership strategy which aims to uplift the lives of the people in the communities we operate in,” she said.

On 14 September the programme hosted a Monitor’s Workshop to equip monitors with the necessary skills to assist them when carrying out their responsibilities. Amos Meerkat currently have 27 monitors who are responsible for checking the material and monitoring the process against curriculum target dates.

This ensures that teachers do not fall behind. They also assist the mentors and coaches who are uncertain about the application of the material and answer their questions.
